Join CareFirst and the CIO Executive Council for a Practitioner Exchange & Workshop

Date: October 10, 2019
Time: 8:30 A.M. - 12:15 P.M.
Location: CareFirst/FEP Operations Center
1280 Maryland Avenue, SW, Suite 180
  Washington, D.C. 20024

IT leadership is tasked with supporting innovation and operational excellence simultaneously. This can create a bi-modal IT culture that struggles with the ‘Fast IT’ need-for-speed versus ‘Slow IT’ concerns for interoperability and security for the organization. Too often, this results in the accumulation of technical debt, with a negative impact on abilities to innovate, rising inconsistencies and skyrocketing operational costs.

Washington, DC-based CareFirst is presently navigating their own technical debt journey. At this event, CareFirst executives will share their initial efforts in a ‘playbook’ to address technical debt and exchange ideas with other practitioners on strategies to manage this critical issue. Concerns that will be addressed during this interactive discussion and workshop include:

  • What is the scope of technical debt?

  • What is the impact of technical debt on digital transformation initiatives and operations?

  • How does organizational and IT culture add to this issue?

  • How can organizations mitigate the risks, delays and unnecessary costs?

  • How can IT elevate the topic of technical debt from an IT-only issue to an overall business concern?

This highly focused, half-day event is for practitioners ranging from mid-sized to large enterprises in the DC area. Hear from CareFirst’s IT leadership, with presentations from IDC research executives Joseph Pucciarelli and Mike Rosen. Attendees are invited to engage in a candid discussion and share strategies and practical solutions for dealing with the rising issue of technical debt.
